Hey all
Sadly or happily, I don't really have time to write a big huge
mass email, but I just wanted to send off a quick note to everyone that my time
in Niger has reached its end. I officially closed my service on WED, went to my
village one last time on FRI/SAT, and am slated to hop on a bus out of here
tonight.
The last few weeks have been a whirlwind, and I just haven't
had the time to sit down and compose a good mass email. This'll have to suffice.
Since I've been so busy with all the packing and paperwork and
goodbyes and "lasts," I haven't even begun to process what all I've seen and
experienced over the last 1185 (or so) days here. But I'm sure with time it'll
come. I'm already nostalgic for this place. It's been a great (and oftentimes
trying) experience. For better or worse (and, as most PCVs say), I feel like
learned a lot more here than I taught. Being here has become a big part of who I
am, so it will be sad to have to let that go.
I will try to write one last Niger mass email when I get more
free time to sit and reflect. For the time being, I hope this email is enough to
let you know that, hey, I'm alive.
In the meantime, I've got some traveling to do. I travel down
towards Ghana, as I'm flying out of Accra in a week and a half, and then
visiting some RPCVs in Slovakia. After that I meander for a bit and end up back
in Minneapolis on May 19th- home, sweet, home. (And I
really hope the
snow will be done by then!)
Anyway, as I'm headed back into the land of the
anassara,
with their technology and high-speed internet, I ought to be able to write back
more regularly to emails. (Maybe not during the travels, but definitely after.)
So, write, and I'll try to write back! Thanks for all your support!
